We offer a range of training services to our consulting clients and in 2017 we are launching a new series of Public training courses aimed to helping individuals to achieve certification in key skill areas of Project management.
In-house training is the term we use to describe training provided for individual clients.
This service can be completely bespoke based on a needs analysis or via the popular immersion™ series.
This approach is based on a tried and tested approach to training in which the trainees are totally immersed in their subject area for a number of days and immediately begin to put their training to work in a real life environment.
As the diagram above shows, unless something is done about it a huge proportion of the knowledge you have paid for will be lost within 7 days of finishing the course.
This is mostly because forgetting is an important housekeeping task for the brain. Deciding what to remember is mostly based on how often it was used. Imagine if you never forgot anything, that would be intolerable.
The approach that works best of all for many reasons is to make sure that the training is timed just before the candidates will begin to put it to sue and better still, finish the training job in the field.
The immersion™ series is designed to do exactly that.
Project management is taught via the PM1™ model which is actually a series of bite-sized immersion training courses that can be handles with a blend of training room and real life approaches to achieve a specific task for example Business Briefing.
The business briefing addresses the drivers for the project, pulls together all the right stakeholders, identifies the goals and the benefits required, defines a vision for everyone, puts a project charter in place that defines the structure of the project and the team and clarifies the rules of engagement.
- Transcends politics and oversight to include the right people and get them committed.
- Gets quickly to the business benefit and identifies the true drivers and restraints
- Establishes the broad terms of reference for a go/no-go decision
- Produces enough detail to begin approaching vendors where appropriate
- Sets the scene to develop a realistic business case and make a sound decision
Delivering training in small increments during the course of a live project not only aids retention, but it also gives context the learning process another grossly underestimated aspect of teaching and learning.
